AbstractA series of tests were conducted to investigate the behavior and to determine the performance of a solar powered intermittent ammonia- water absorption refrigerator with a shell and tube type heat e xchanger mounted vertically as generator. Different c ombinations of operation mode, namely with reflecting mirrors, without reflecting mirrors, thermosyphon, and forced- circulation were used to study the effect of components design and system configuration. A new design was proposed based on results and experience acquired through this experimental study .
