AbstractA bow shaped e name l coated float attachment of size 110 cm x 65 cm x 10 cm was developed for 4 . 74kW K80 Kubota power tiller. The power tiller was equipped with standard cage wheels of size 60 cm diameter , 24 cm width with 3 0 degrees lug angle and lug spacing. During the general performance test it was observed that the float prevented the cage wheel from digging the soil deeper when s lippage occurred. The float- cage wheel combination eased the operator ' s work. It was possible to release the power tiller from stagnant position by sledging. The performance of power tiller with and without float on it was evaluated in flooded and puddled field conditions. It was observed that there was no significant difference in the pull and power delivered at different s lips by power tiller with and without float attachment in f loaded soil condition. However there was significant difference in pull and power delivered by power tiller in puddled field condition .It was because the cage wheels were prevented by the float to reach the hardpan layer to develop enough pull and power. The drag test of power till e r with a nd without float showed that the presence of a float on a power tiller did not increase the drag force required to pull it. In general the float
