AbstractNow-a- days shield machine is controlled by the expert system or artificial intelligence system. There is no mathematical model at present which can apply for any size and shape of shield machine to simulate it. This research study is the first time and first initiative towards the development of that type of simulator. This research study mainly focus on the analytical formulation of two dimensional shield machine simulator model and finally developing a computer program based on that analytical formulation taking account of relative displacement. Rectangular cross section of shield with unit thickness (due to two dimensional mode l) was used for this analysis. The computer program finally calculate the trace of cutter face , trace of center of jack, rotational angle(A0), advancement of shield machine(Aq, Ar), radius of curvature(R) of the trace of cutter fac e at each step. After the considerable number of steps, the shield machine comes to steady state condition and it further travel along a circular path. The radius of curvature shows the behavior of shield machine. Results obtained from various type of data have been p resented at the end .
