AbstractPrevious research or practice design are focued on v=O, (i.e. acting earth pressure on cut bit =O). The earth pressure at face is equal to the earth pressure at rest under excavation. And most of the design is based on experience and is on the safe side (i.e. have larger safety factor) . Because of ground condition, velocity of shield, structure of cutter fa ce and earth fill in the chamber condition, will influence to cutter torque and some of this are still not clear. This research work acting load on the cutting face is trying to make clear. The shield machine cutting velocity will put into consideration. It is try to make clear the pushing resistance with cutter torque and to testify the proposed model , by applying multiple regression statistics method to in~situ data. To obtain the equation of pushing resistance , hence to calculate the component of cutter torque.
