AbstractThis thesis presents the research carried out in order to analyze and verify the performance of a unipolar-bipolar switching correlator with integrate and dump filter receiver for optical fiber Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) Local Area Networks. Methods of performance improvement for optical fiber delay line correlator receiver were studied with regard to the receiver noise performance. An experimental investigation was carried out in order to verify the validity of the concept of switching correlator receiver. The receiver was operated at lOkb/s data rate and bit error rate measurements were taken with a single interferer and optical switching was simulated by electronic switching. Finally an ultrafast all optical switching correlator scheme was presented with a novel synchronization scheme.
