AbstractThe yield envelope for soft Muar clay was established experimentally , by loading soil samples along different stress paths starting from the k 0 condition under axisymmetric conditions. The stress - strain relations hips also were studied . The tests produced well - defined yield loci in p', q plot and were normalized with respect to the vertical pre-consolidation pressure ยท The shape of yield envelope were well defined by Dafalias' s mod el & by Wong & Mitchel l' s approach . The directions of plastics train increment vectors along different stress paths have been examined. The results suggests that they are vary with stress path directions & no t normal to the yield surface . Predictions made using Wong & Mitchell' s approach, based on an experimentally define d non - associated flow rule, agreed with the experimental results reason ably well.
