AbstractBandung is the capital city of West Java Province. The landform features of the city can be divided into four units, namely : Alluvial/flood plain, volcanic product terrain, alluvial fan plain and lacustrine plain. While the stratigraphic sequence of this area from the youngest to the oldest is River Deposits, Cikidang Formation , Cibeureum and Kosambi Formations, Undifferentiated Young Volcanic Product and Cikapundung Formation . Their ages are Pleistocene to Recent. Generally, the foundation condition in Bandung Area are quite satisfactory and uptil now, no problem has encountered in this connection. The city has an a mpl e supply of aggregate and stones for ripraping purposes. Most of the sand being used in the city are taken from nearby city or from volcanic sources such as Sumedang, Garut and Galungggung volcano areas. Present rate of waste production is 6000 cubic meters per day. There are five disposal sites surrounding the city. They are Ciseupan in the west, Dago in the north, Cicabe and North Sukamiskin in the east and Cieunteung in the south. Three mayor sources of water are used by the Bandung Municipality Water Enterprise . These are deep wells, springs and surface water from river. Flooding of urban area at Dayeuhkolot occurs regularly. The 1986 flood, records of the maximum flood a rea of 4,300 hectares and volume of water about 54 millions cubic meters. To reduce the effect of both air pollution and water pollution from disposal site to the environment it is recommended to abandon Dago and Cicabe solid waste disposal sites and to reconsider the existence of disposal site in the northern part area of the city which will affect the groundwater quality in the city in the near future. Likewise, land use and planning is becoming more and more . important since more than 70% of the total area has been already built-up area.
