Abstract | The high volume of bicycle traffic in the city of Tianjin China affects its urban transportation very much. Traveling by bicycle has its advantages as well as its disadvantages. Urban transportation planners need to take advantage of the merits of traveling by bicycle and to overcome its demerits. This may be done by efficient transportation planning based on the results of social SUT\1eŸS and scientific research. This study analyzes the characteristics of bicycle users and •their bicycle transportation, the results of which are used in the process of trip generation and in the identification of the factors that influence their choice of mode. The work trip is considered as the main trip purpose and the bicycle the main traffic mode. Young people prefer travel by bicycle, while older persons like to take the bus. There are more male bicycle users •than female users. Walking is also an important option for all The results of the study may contribute towards better transportation planning in that more attention may be given to the main bicycle with respect to the urban transportation system. |
