AbstractIn this research, a supply chain network design (SCN) considering transportation and shortage costs was developed and solved via CPLEX. In general cases, some input parameters have been considered as constant values. However, in real-world problems, most input parameters are not always constant due to the fluctuation of many factors, e.g., time constraints, seasonal demand, and weather conditions. Therefore, an input parameter of the developed model in this research, i.e., the capacity of unreliable distribution centers (unreliable DCs) was considered as random variable and analyzed via a stochastic programming approach which is the scenario-based technique. The result obtained from the scenario-based technique provides decision-makers a more precise value of the model’s total cost and made it easier to make strategic decisions and long-term plans.
