AbstractSteel is widely used metal in many industries all over the world. Carbon steel is cheap, but it easily gets corroded when exposed to moisture and water. The aim of this research was to fabricate a coating which allows carbon steel to be used in the presence of water and thereby increase the anticorrosion efficiency. This was thought to be achieved by fabricating superhydrophobic coating using nano fibrillated as it has finer like structure that provides roughness to the surface. This was followed by surface modification using FOTS to reduce the surface energy. Thereby expected to increase the anti-corrosion efficiency. Main finding of this research was, superhydrophobic was successfully obtained using NFC and FOTS. the sample modified with silane without Nano fibrillated cellulose coat also exhibit nearly hydrophobic nature. using of IH, IH, 2H, 2H- perfluorooctyltrichlorosilane (FOTS) positively contributed for super hydrophobicity but couldn't help in increase the anti- corrosion efficiency. Rather using FOTS decreased the anti-corrosion efficiency when treated in steel. the achieved coating on the surface was superhydrophobic, abrasion resistant but not very corrosive resistant.
