AbstractLaboratory scale experiments to treat wastewater from a brewery factory were conducted using sequencing batch anaerobic reactors (SBAR ) . The results indicate that in term of scoo 1 t::111 uvdi etficiency , the treatment of brewery wastewater using SBAR is possible. SBAR for treating the brewery wastewater were operated at rates varying from 0.05 kg/m3.a to 0.34 kg/m3 . d. Efficiency of SCOD removal were 80 to 90% at the RS ratio of 0. 4 and organic loading rates between 0.05 - 0.15 kg/m3.d. The lower organic loading rates resulted in higher efficiencies of SCOD removal. Empirical relationships between SCOD removal efficiency, F/ M ratio and organic loading rates were determined.
