| Abstract | This study concerns with the development and application of
productivity measurement model at organization level, identifying
low productivity areas and finally making suggestion s for
improvement of productivity in those areas. The study is
conducted in an automotive parts manufacturing comp any in
Thailand.
A model to measure productivity of a multi-performance
objectives system, based on the concept of management by
objectives and system theory, is used. Capacity constraints and
the multi-attribute utility theory are used to evaluate the
performance objectives.
The approach termed as P-0-P (Performance Objective s
Productivity) approach to measure productivity, provides a
methodology to determine productivity index of the organisation
considering it as a system and it is useful for monitoring and
control of performance.
The model has been applied to the data collected for a
period of one year for 1989. From the analysis of the data,
productivity indices have been derived and low productivity areas
have been identified. Cause and effect diagrams have been
developed to ascertain the factors affecting productivity.
Finally, some suggestions have been out-lined for the company to
improve productivity in low productivity areas. |
