AbstractNowadays, precast-reinforced-concrete structure is one of the most critical structures in framing system. It can get many benefits in constructions. Moreover, it can save the time and money. In real structures, it develops the quality of products and decrease the site works and support to the speedy construction. However, the design of connection is one of the most important consideration in precast-reinforced-concrete structure. Welded splice bars connection in precast-reinforced-concrete frame structure become popular in some typical precast beam-column in Thailand. Basically, the performances of precast concrete structures depend mostly on the design of connection. So, one full scale specimen casted with two types of joint concrete is designed as the interior moment frames of the four stories commercial building. Therefore, the 1st experiment is that the precast components casted with lower strength concrete and 2nd test is that casted with higher strength concrete. So, these two experiments were tested and compare to study the performances of connection in precast-reinforced-concrete structure. The experimental results describe that the performances of two experimental testing within welded splice connection are generally similar under uniformly distributed loading but developed more and better in 2nd testing. Cracking at joint interfaces and the breaking of welded reinforcing bars in the joint is the main failure. It was observed that specimen can carry more loading than the designated loading and the ductility performance is not so good in both tests. In summary, the performances between two different qualities of connections were observed. So, the quality of construction and quality of materials are very critical and are needed to control for the precast concrete structures.
