Abstract | Precast frames become a popular structure of small buildings nowadays. There are many benefits such as reduce cost, improve quantity and increase workability. However, the joint of the precast beam-beam is weakness part of the moment frames while subjected to seismic loads. Connection length and splice bars confine to the development of bond and limiting the progression of splitting cracks. The increase in transverse reinforcement results in an increase in bond force and eventually converting a splitting failure to a pullout failure. To understand this behavior, in this experiment study conducted with beam-beam connection. The results of the testing specimen show that the failure caused on in the connection region, as there is no transverse reinforcement provided the connection region. Load-Displacement curve showed there is no much deviation in starting but later there is a sudden failure in the beam specimen at failure loading. Bottom reinforcement of the specimen in splice bars there is more yielding observed from the starting of the experiment. There is no much yield in the other rebars. Which are presented detailed. However there must be adequate reinforcement must be provided in order to reduce the failure in splice bars. |
