AbstractAs urban population rises there is a need for development of more tall buildings. However, the objective of building code seismic design for structures is only to protect the occupants from injury and death. There is a need to develop a more resilient building that after an earthquake will have a limited damage such that the repair cost is low, and downtime can achieve full recovery rapidly. The objective of this study is to identify the level of resiliency of a fixed-based structure that is 50-story residential building using conventional nonstructural component. Furthermore, increase of resiliency will be done by identifying the nonstructural components that are severely damage and convert it by using enhanced nonstructural components. Level of resiliency will follow the objective of REDiTM and will be in terms of repair cost and downtime. Based on the results, the level of resiliency of a fixed-based structure that uses conventional nonstructural component only attained the code-level rating. However, a fixed-based structure that uses enhanced nonstructural component attained the silver-rating level of resiliency. Due to this enhancement of nonstructural component, it can be concluded that it has a significant effect on the resiliency of the structure.
