Abstract | Nowadays, structural health monitoring has increasingly needed for the post-construction process. The most traditional way is to measure an acceleration response to identify the dynamic properties of the structure. However, using an acceleration response can only extract a global response which is not appropriate for the damage detection purpose. There are many pieces of research which use a modal strain response to detect damages in local structural members and provided a high detection performance. This research applied integrated structural health monitoring program to a full-scale high-rise building structure using acceleration responses and modal strain responses where an acceleration response was measured under ambient vibration and force excitation to extract dynamic properties consisting of modal frequency, modal damping, and modal floor movement using spectral analysis, random decrement, least square error techniques while modal strain responses were measured under only force excitation to accurately extract comprehensive modal strain signature patterns which consist of modal flexural and shear strain patterns using a spectral analysis technique and to extract a lateral load resisting mechanism of local components in the building where these identification results can be used as an indicator to detect the damage for long term structural health monitoring. |
