Abstract This research work has been conducted in order to study and evaluate the water management issues in partially lined watercourses in selected command area of punjab, Pakistan. Delivery efficiencies at different farm locations in a watercourse, effects of different lining percentages on delivery efficiency, crop water requirement a field as well as at a canal outlet for a 10-day period, relative water supply, operational losses and crop yield at different farm locations were studied at 12 selected watercourse in the two canal command areas. The most suitable and economical length of lining for a watercourse was found to be within 20-30 % of the total of the watercourse. The crop water demand was not found to be fulfilled properly by the canal water. supply due to inflow fluctuations occurring during different decades. The crop yield was found found to be reduced along the length of the watercourse.
