Abstract | A non-iterative numerical scheme for static analysis of geometrically nonlinear load - displacement walled members and frames is presented. behaviour of thin-In order to test versatility of the proposed scheme, numerical examples on various planar and spatial structures are performed. Results obtained by the present study are compared with those obtained by the non - iterative method p r oposed by Hasegawa et al. , Lineari2 e d Finite Displacement Treatment and Newton - Raphson iterative method in terms of accuracy and computational efficie n cy. Eigenvalue analysis and determinant evaluation are carried out s o as to find out the reasons behind the failure of the proposed scheme to trace nonlinear curves with limit point. Finally, advantages and disadvantages of using iterative and non - iterative numerical techniques for nonlinear structural analysis are discussed . |
