AbstractEngineering properti es of the limestone from Uthong were determined. Its physical, mechanical and mineralogical properties were studied in the laboratory. Th e tests included water content, water absorption, bulk density, Lo s Angeles abrasion , sonic velocity, Schmidt hammer hardness, uni axial compressive strength, triaxial compressive strength, tens ile strength, direct shear test and thin section studies. The results show that Uthong limestone can be classified as me dium strength rock with high modulus ratio. The relation between Schmidt hammer hardness a nd uniaxial compressive strength can serve as index property for Uthong limestone .
