Abstract | The present study is concerned with the development of an interactive digital geographical information system package for the task of automatted mapping and facilities management on a mi crocomput er based on graphics and data base management techniques. This new interactive package is flexible, user- fri e ndly and cost-effective. The significant capabilities include data encoding , data modification, data retrieval and data display. The work is separated into two parts : design involving data bases and program modules, and software implementation. Vector representation is us ed to model geographical information. Data base design is based on a relational model. The methodology us ed in d esigning program modul es is the JacJ{son Structured Programming (JSP) . Programs are coded in TURBO PASCAL except a few programs for controlling digitizer are written in Microsoft QBASIC programming language. The package is implemented on NEC PowerMate 386. |
