Abstract | Individual's behavior is shaped and constructed by national culture and that behavior also guides the individual in entrepreneurial decision. Opting for starting a business or doing job are general two choices for individual in their career. In Nepal research on entrepreneurship is very less and paper to examine impacts of national culture in entrepreneurial intention of individual have not received any focus in this field for research. This paper explores impact of national culture in entrepreneurial intention of individual in Nepal and fill this gap of study. The cultural dimension for national culture are explored from lens of Geert Hofstede for case of Nepal and it includes power distance, uncertainty avoidance, masculinity, and individualism (Hofstede, 1991) . Entrepreneurs from many organizations of Nepal were interviewed along with some executives from related field for data collection. Snowball sampling and in-depth interview method has been adopted to collect the data. Thematic analysis tool of interview was used to process and analyze the interview data. Descriptive narration and storytelling method have been used to express the results in the paper. The study found that power distance have negative impact on entrepreneurial intention of individuals and collectivism, femininity and lower uncertainty avoidance cultural dimension have positive impact on entrepreneurial intention of individuals in Nepal. This study also discusses important implications of national culture's dimensions to encourage the entrepreneurial intention and develop entrepreneurial culture by improving organizational performance of Nepal. |
