AbstractThis study addresses the closing of a relational data model by using conceptual graphs. The motivation is that conceptual graphs and entity-relations hips diagrams are similar, therefore the database design technique using entity-relationship diagrams can be applicable to conceptual graphs . The scope of this study concerns two basic steps of database design requirements analysis and modelling, and transformation o f the modelling to relational data model. In order to transform the modelling to relations, seven rules are proposed. Finally, the resulting relations obtained from using conceptual graphs and from using the entity-relationships analysis are compared. It is shown that the conceptual graphs can provide more details information which can easily be used establish knowledge bases.
