AbstractThis research study deals with t he essential information needed in the manpower planning of a software project . The Cost Constructive Model is used as a basis for estimating the software development schedule. The system relies on t he expertise of the project manager to determine the project requirements for a specific software project. Information is organized using the instantiation concept in frame representation and is coupled with an inference engine which embodies the scheduling strategy. The least commitment principle is us e d to determine priorities in project tasks thus avoiding premature decisions in task scheduling. The implemented portion of the design utilizes pre-determined information such as task precedence, task duration, and project staffing requirements that are manipulated in detecting and resolving conflicts that arise in scheduling a software project.
