AbstractA systems-analysis of coal-fired power plants in Thailand is carried out to give fundamental information for decision analysis. A coal - fired power plant reference system was established, with a view to providing insight on energy/environment development policies. The objective was to reduce the gap between energy planning and environmental system planning. This study covers the determination of coal-fired power plant policies and the quantified impacts from each policy with reference to the objectives & attributes. The policies studi ed include fuel characteristics and control technologies. A reference plant for lignite/coal- fired power plants was developed as a basis for calculating resource requirements, the impacts to land, water, air, and safety , and generating cost . The results of the attributes from each policy provide estimates of selected impacts of the energy systems.
