Abstract | The paper has two main components. The first deals with principles of energy pricing and makes a detailed analysis of basic energy pricing objectives, i.e. economic efficiency, social equity, and financial viability. The second component compares these principles with the actual practice of coal pricing in Shanxi Province of China. With the help of scenarios, it further attempts to identify the effects of variou s measures on coal price levels by partial equilibrium analysis. In conclusion, it studies the impacts of coal price adjustments on various industries. The outcomes of the impact analysis indicate that as long as the adj u stment of the coal prices follows efficiency criteria, Shanxi Province can obtain more and more benefits and make a bigger contribution to the national economy. |
