| Abstract | An introduction to a microcomputer decision support
system for foundation engineering is presented. The
knowledge based expert system is developed by using the
existing SHELL package, "EXSYS". After considering the
condition s of superstructure type and system, subsurface,
water conditions and environmental conditions, the developed
expert system will select the proper type of foundation.
Preliminary soil identification and geotechnical limitations
are also included.
