AbstractA biofilm shear loss model for RBC was developed. The model development was based on the assumption that biofilm thickness loss rate is proportional to the first order biofilm surface velocity gradient and biofilm thickness. Lab- scale RBC experiment was investigated to determine the coefficient in the model. In this experiment, it was proved that this mathematical model is applicable to RBC biofilm shear loss in laminar flow. Also, from the experimental data, it was found that the biofilm shear loss is not an important phenomenon of RBC's biofilm growth.
