AbstractThe effect of aeration time and SRT on nutrient removal in IAS process was studied by using actual sewage in four laboratory scale reactors. Different aeration time, aeration strength and SRT was tested. The results from the study show nitrogen and phosphorus as well as organic material s can be removed at the same time by controlling aeration time, aeration strength and SRT using !AS process. Minimum anaerobic period, aerobic period and air flow rate were determined. Optimum aeration time, strength and SRT were identified. The possibility of using kinetic coefficient to predict phosphorus removal rate was studied.
