AbstractThis study attempted to review the history, present status of aquaculture practices in Bangladesh, and potential and problems aiming at further development. Since fish plays a major role in the protein intake of the people in Bangladesh, ways and means of its increased production were ascertained. This study suggested that a feasible national aquaculture development plan should be for mutated by the Government to improve the existing condition of traditional aquaculture practices and the nutritional standards of traditional aquaculture practices and the nutritional standards of an ever increasing under-nourished population. Several recommendations were put forward for the development of aquaculture in Bangladesh.
