AbstractA Unive rsity Computer Center Strategic Planni ng (UCSP) is a multi-phase rule-based expert system which enhances t he planning ability of the computer center director by guidi ng him to t hink of an important set of information to be used in strategi c planning. The proposed algorithm of Computer Center Strategic Plan is developed by modularizing the planning into seven phases. The decomposition he lps to manage the compl exity of the strategic planning tasks. It simplifies the knowledge engineering problem and it enhances the c larity of explanations. A conceptua l expert system framework for developing UCSP is based on this proposed algorithm. EXSYS , an expert system building tool, is used to implement the simplified version of UCSP.
