AbstractEnergy is the driving force in carrying out the daily farm activities. Whether it is used for consumption or for production, the productivity of the farm will very much depend on its availability and supply. The study first look into the farm consumption pattern, and later analyse any potential flow of the energy sources at the developed stage of the farm system by studying the farm energy balance sheet which give a systematic and synthetic account of energy flows from its origin through transformation to its final end users. The preliminary result t h rough survey to the farm and farm account indicates that crop residues produced are not used for energy purposes though in the nature they can be utilized as an energy source, and the energy requirement of the farm is obtained mainly from the petroleum products, such as gasoline and diesel, from other to the farm and supplement by wind energy. With the estimated crop yields of 5 t/ha and 4. 1 t/ha for rice and corn respectively, and assumed 25 hectares of land are used for rice production and 5 hectares of land for corn production, it was found that the crop residues produced from these two sources are able to play a major role in farm energy requirement in the future if we assumed the farm energy requirement re mains constant. Also wind energy can play an important supplementary role in the farm energy requirement at the developed stage of the farm production system.
