AbstractAn effort is mad e to for mutate a soil loss estimation model applicable to smaller sized water sheds in the siwalik and middle mount a in regions of Nepal. The approach is kept simple by correcting erosion mainly to hydrological parameter so watershed like total runoff volume and peak discharge . The other factors affecting the erosion are treated as constant , and a watershed constant is introduced. The watershed constant is evaluated on similar lines as the Universal Soil Loss Equation. The model estimates the loss on the basis of individual storm events. The result and analys is showed that there are cerein factors at microscopic level like effect of electro chemical forces on soil strength and ground vegetation inter action, and some macroscopic phenomenon like mass wasting has to be under stood and in corporates in the model to improve its efficiency . Considering the complexity of erosion process and the aerial extent of watershed , the predicted value of soil loss using the formulated soil erosion model showed consider able agreement with the values obtained from the field data . In the case when the effect of mass wasting were reduced and the early season rains are not considered , resulted to a fairly good correlation coefficient . This empirical model to estimate the soil loss from the watershed due to a particular storm which could be correlated to other physical phenomenon and used for many practical purposes.
