Abstract | This study presents a real- life case on the introduction of Condition-based maintenance policy in a Steel Rolling Mill which manufactures mild steel rolled products for construction purposes on a continuous production line. An inspection model based on delay time concept and semi- Marlcov process was used to calculate the expected long- run average number of inspections between two repairs and limiting probability that a repair is caused by a breakdown of each unit. The optimum regular inspection interval was found by trading-off between total repair cost and regular inspection cost. |
