AbstractThis study was carried out in 25 No. of M. S. sheet lysimeters placed in the centre of each experimental plot. All the plots, stressed during different stages of crop development for 5, 10, 15 and 20 days stress duration. In this investigation yield response factors (Ky) for before , during and after heading periods are determined as 1.053, 1.028 and 0.551 respectively. Which indicate greater reduction in grain yield for plots stressed before and during heading period . Drought sensitivity is calculated as the relative grain yield reduction (1 - u/U), and is related to No. of stress days during the drought period. The No. of stress days were calculated as the product of relative ETdeficit (1 - ET /ET )during the drought period. Daily ET a r rate was determined by water balance approach for both stress and non-stress periods. Daily ET rate for the stress period was determined from the amount of refill to 5 cm water level at the time of stress termination. Instead of determination of soil moisture content, the duration of stress period was fixed according to No. of days, after replenishment of water from the soil surface. Drought sensitivity for all stages of crop development and stress durations is determined and it is observed that drought stress is causing a 7. 6, 6.0 and 4.6 % reduction in grain yield in before during and after heading stages respectively.
