Abstract | The system of machinery in wetland farming was formulated and tested in the West-End project of AFE Division. Different machines were engaged in three important operations of rice cultivation, namely, field preparation, transplanting and harvesting. The performance of machines in terms of field capacity, efficiency and fuel consumption were ana lyzed then compare to manual operations accordingly. It was found that transplanting by 2 row and 4 row transplanter could speed up the operation about 13-20 times when compared to manual transplanting. In particular machine operation, machines in the same group were compared to each other in terms of economics. BEA (break-even area)for each machine was determined. BEA of different machines vary from 15-32 ha per year in small machines and 123- 183 ha per year in bigger ones such as 4W tractor and combine harvester. |
