AbstractGroundwater recovery is a popular topic of conserving groundwater in Phuket Island since Phuket Island became one of the World’s popular tourist destination. Phuket Island has a very limited freshwater source and rainwater, which is the main recharge. Several dams and ponds were constructed in Phuket Island for rainwater storage, but they are still not enough to supply the whole island. In this study, the changes in groundwater level and groundwater flow under Phuket Municipality is observed using Visual MODFLOW Program which uses three-dimensional groundwater flow equation. It is found that with no recovery being done in the near future, the groundwater level could further reduce by two meters. In this study, the amount of recharge water needed for groundwater recovery is also calculated for further studies involving groundwater recovery. This study be taken as the first step for many further studies which may be done to know the complete recharge system of Phuket Island, which is still not known till now.
