AbstractA fluidized bed ricehusk combustion system is developed. It is efficient has the extra attractive of producing energy and pozzolana from ricehusk. The heat power generated is about 200-300 kw, the combustion efficiency is about 95 %. A successful start-up process for ricehusk fluidized bed combustor is reported. CO loss. Some influential facters of combustion efficiency such as excess air , secondary air, freeboard combustion and air distributor type are discussed. The combustible loss in fluidized bed combustion of rice husk is mainly due to the CO loss in the flue gas . More excess air and better mixing are useful to reduce the With proper ratio of primary to secondary air the combustion efficiency ca n be improved ; for a ratio of 70:30 a combustion efficiency of 98 % could be achieved at 20 % excess air in the pilot fluidized bed combustor. The fluidized bed combustion system also produce a useful by-product, reactive rice husk ash which can be used for making pozzolana. The pozzolana obtained from fluidized bed combustor has higher compressive strength than the pure Portland cement and the pozzolana obtained from electric burner and open-field burner.
