AbstractThe construction sector is a large industry in Thailand. It cannot be denied that this sector experiences work-life balance issues because the employee always needs to do their task under stress and tight deadlines. Thus, the quality of work life, which is related to work-life balance for Thai civil consultant engineers, is an important consideration for employers and organization policy, as it has significant impacts on the well-being and productivity of individual workers as well as the competitiveness and sustainability of the engineering industry as a whole. To examine the quality of work life, work engagement, and individual work performance, this study collects data from 244 consultants who are working in Thai construction consulting firms and examines fit indices to examine construct validity. In this study, structural equation modeling (SEM) or path analysis will be used to evaluate the relationship between each variable. Also, this research will examine the differentiation among each variable. The present study reveals that the Thai consultant engineers have a high-to-moderate quality of work life, work engagement, and individual work performance. From the path analysis result, there is a positive relationship between quality of work life and work engagement, and quality of work life has a mediation relationship with individual work performance. There is a significant difference between socio-demographic variables (education, working location, and generation) and other variables. The recommendation for this study is that organizations can improve consultants by providing performance-based compensation, providing career paths as guidelines for consultants, and establishing training programs.
