AbstractThe need for a comprehensive microcomputer package which could handle most of the construction management aspects had always been felt at AIT. The relevant individual computer programs like STARTCPM, RESINSCH, BQ, CSHFLW and BARCOM were developed and used on APPLE and WANG computers by WILAINGAM, W. (29) and YALAM, V. (30) of AIT . The introduction of IBM PC and its compatibles like the NEC-APC III, APC IV etc., however, necessitated the conversion of these programs to be run on these new generation computers. Accordingly, a combined comprehensive package for effective computer aided construction management has been developed in this thesis study. The program developed could perform most of the required day to day construction management aspects. Not only the previously developed programs usable on the APPLE and the WANG been converted to the IBM PC but many additional and very useful subroutines have also been added to make the software much more versatile than before. These programs include a heuristic model based Resource Levelling subroutine and enhanced project monitoring facilities. The STARTCPM program performs all the necessary computations for the Critical Path analysis and also the time schedule of the project . The BARCOM program displays / prints the barchart thus produced by the STARTCPM program. The RESINSCH program does the computations for the resource requirement schedules. The CSHFLW program can be used for the cash flow analysis of the project. The BQ program is an auxiliary program which. could perform the work on Bill Of Quantities. Finally, the ongoing project, Plant . programs are validated by using them on a large viz., the construction of unit 8 at the Mae Moh Power
