AbstractMultiple regression analysis was used to investigate a relationship for estimating runoff curve number (CN) in terms of saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks ) , average mean slope of the .watershed (Sb), antecedent moisture condition (AMC) and vegetal cover factor (Vc) taking into account nine watersheds in Thailand and two Indian watersheds. Analysis showed no relationship based on the available data . However, there was some correlation between CN and AMC out of all the considered independent parameters used in the regression analysis for a power type of relation. However, the parameter AMC alone could not account sufficiently the variations in the CN values for any of the considered watersheds. The main reason was probably the non-representability of the rainfall data available, which affected the estimation of CN as well as AMC. An additional reason might be that the CN-AMC relationship was affected by other parameters also such as varying saturated hydraulic conductivity during different storm events etc. However, it was not feasible in the present study to estimate the variations in these parameters during different storms and hence these parameters could not be accounted in the analysis for establishing a relationship for estimating the runoff curve number .
