AbstractThis research deals with reasoning in presence of uncertainty. For pedagogical purpose a world consisting of simple geometric shaped objects is chosen and shown how, the commonsense knowledge used by people , in dealing with the block s in this world, can be incorporated in a system to help decision making; even though the knowledge can be incomplete and sometimes uncertain. Th e work takes a set of heuristics used by people, shows the way to formulate them in the light of possibilistic approach and finally combine them to reason about the state of the system for example , stability of blocks . Underlying basis is that human beings are able to reason conclusions in presence of uncertainty. If such be incorporated in decision support systems robotics ; it can make present day machines and draw useful capability can expert systems or more intelligent. System is implemented using LISP.
