Abstract | The study was to make an overall assessment on the role of industrial estates in promoting economic development of the less-developed Central Region of Taiwan. The industrial estates did contribute much in upgrading manufacturing sectors of the adjacent towns. However, the unstable regional development policy and the lack of supporting efforts weakened the expected effect of the industrial estates . |
