AbstractIncremental Programming Environment is one of the most important areas of growth in software engineering and methodology field . Even though researches has been active, it is still at the beginning stage. Even researches on Parallel Incremental Programming Environment has just begun . And many issues and problems are left unsolved and unanswered. In this study, an attempt has been made to identify the problems and to propose solutions in Parallel Incremental Programming Environment , with emphasis on inter -process cooperation between Syntax-Directed Editor and Incremental Code Generator. A hypothetical parallel incremental programming environment, APIPE (A Parallel Incremental Programming Environment) has been designed based on multi- processor system. APIPE has use d truncated Abstract Syntax Tree as internal representation of source program. Inter - process cooperation in APIPE is simple and does not require heavy overhead for concurrent control itself. Al though APIPE has not eliminated redundant code generation as much as theoretically possible , it has been aimed to achieve better performance with practical design consideration .
