Abstract | This study presents the design of a Prototype Phonetic Personal Identification(Registration ) System for Nepal. The system is proposed to store information of citizens of Nepal in the computer in such a way that authorized centers will be able to retrieve and update information about Nepalese citizens efficiently . An identity number coding scheme is established to identify the record of each citizen in the computer. The aim is to have an Identity Number which is easy to remember, useful for criminal investigation and suitable to be widely used. A Phonetic Number is designed which can be used in identity numbers that can be assigned to each citizen in Nepal . These Phonetic Numbers are generated from ordinary Devnagari Script which is the script of the official language in Nepal i . e Nepa1i. Since the characters are used to represent numbers , a certain value will be assigned to each character. The 128-al Numbering Scheme is used to represent the numbers which makes it possible to use only 6 Phonetic Numbers to represent approximately 4 .39 EX P 1 2 unique numbers, which are more than enough to assign them uniquely to all citizens . Structured data analysis was carried out on the proposed system. Th e Entity Relation ship method was used for logical data base design of t he system. A prototype of the system is implemented on the Norsk Data (N DI G30 - CX system using the CODASY L Database Management System(DBMS) Sibas - II -E . The Fourth Generation Language System development tool Unique - II - A which is available in ND, is used for developing the prototype . |
