AbstractThis study presents a simplified procedures for rock slope stability evaluation. The study was limited to the kinematic failure caused by gravity loading only. Dynamic loading, changes in cohesion, ground water pressure, and external force were excluded. The parameters considered in this study are the dip direction and dip angle of the sliding planes, the shearing resistance between the contact surfaces, the kinematic condition of sliding that includes sliding direction and dip angle of the sliding plane. The apparatus designed for the study was a tilting plate with orientation and angle measuring scales. The samples were prepared by using the plaster of Paris. The dip direction and dip angle were measured by using a compass. A statistical analysis of the test results was carried out by means of computer programs. The stereographic analysis for rock slope stability problem was then carried out using these data. The results of this study was a series of nomograms that can be used to evaluate the stability conditions of the different types of rock slope .
