AbstractThis quantitative study explored the preferred leadership style among the millennial workforce. As the babyboomer plans to retire from the workplace, the large population of the millennial generation (born 1981-1996) is entering the workplace and preparing to takeover it. It is crucial to understand their preference and expectation from a leader. Among several leadership styles, this study focused on transformational, transactional, passive-avoidant, and servant leadership styles. The purpose of this study was to examine the most preferred leadership style among millennials and to study which leadership style has the most preferred leadership on employee performance. A convenience sample of the respondent from Nepal through a Likert scale questionnaire provided 207 respondents which were analyzed through descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The finding of the study revealed that transformational and servant leadership styles have a positive influence on the performance of millennials and, passive-avoidant leadership has an inverse association with millennials' performance. Whereas, transactional leadership has no significant influence on millennials' performance. Moreover, the finding of the study shed some light on the influence that different leadership styles have on the performance of the millennial workforce in the context of Nepal.
