AbstractInitially, this research was planned to evaluate the effects of changing from the former two-way operation of a part of Bangkok into one-way operation and to estimate the origin-destination matrices of the one-way and the two-way scheme. Then the study was limited to the estimation of origin-destination matrices due the incompatibility of the simulation program to the IBM 3083 Computer Model The traffic flow data for the former two-way operation were provided by the Office of the Committee for the Management of Road Traffic (OCMRT). Limited traffic volume counts were collected from OCMRT and Hitapriya's thesis. Related data were provided by OCMRT. SATURN program was used to estimate the origin-destination matrices for the two-way and one-way scheme of Bangkok. Since there was no prior matrix available, depending on the capacities of the roads entering and leaving the network, a trip matrix was estimated. This matrix was then updated using limited reliable traffic counts, which were taken in 1983, 1984, and 1985 during the morning peak hour and evening peak hour. The estimated matrices were closely studied. Results of the T test for paired observations showed that the 0-D matrices estimated revealed a good relationship for morning peakhour and the evening peak hour respectively. It indicated that there was no significant change resulted in trip-interchange through or within the network .
