Abstract | “Digital Transformation,” despite being involved with the change in technology advancement to support the firm, has a core value centered around the people aspect. Many research papers mentioned that digitally transform is also to prepare internal personnel to be ready and capable of changes. This required communication to demonstrate the vision of change, and its strategy. However, a research paper on the communication tactics to employees to be prepared for changes is not widely available yet. For that reason, this research paper aims to explore the tactic of communication to create employee understanding and be engaged in the firm’s direction to change. One of the key findings from the literature review is two ways communication is more effective to engage with employees. Two ways communication is a new communication method in firms, this project will roll out the pilot project of using internal social media tools to explore and learn how two ways communication platforms such as internal social media, along with other channels, can support the communication of digital transformation. In this paper, the readers will find the practice of communication aspect of “Digital Transformation,” which is a crucial aspect of this transformational change yet has rarely been mentioned. This includes a literature review on internal communication, and research interpretation on how internal communication can support digital transformation, using Merck SEA6 as the main case study. In the end, the researcher shall also provide a recommendation to the case study firm, to further optimize their communication plan. |
