Abstract | Work stress has become a global concern with the presence of several potential work- related stressors disrupting various elements of the workplace including employee performance which is a key to organizational success. The research study was conducted to examine the work-related stressors of the employees working in the commercial banks of Nepal and how the perceived stressors affect their performance at the workplace. The data was collected using structured survey questionnaire among 384 respondents who were working in different branches of commercial banks in Kathmandu Valley. Further, hierarchical multiple regression analysis was performed to test the five hypotheses of the study. The findings revealed that co-worker support and career growth opportunities had a significant positive impact on the commercial bank employees' performance. On the other hand, workload and work-family conflict were found to have a significant but negative impact on the commercial bank employees' performance. However, rewards and recognition had no significant impact on the performance of Nepalese commercial bank employees. Thus, strategies and policies to be effectively implemented for attaining a manageable work stress were recommended to both the employees and employers of the organizations. |
