AbstractThe focus of my master research study will be to develop and understand how the companies are able to play a new kind of role within the political conflicts. Indeed, it appears that the modem world with all its new processes and technologies has allowed companies to get a new kind of role within geopolitical relationships. Since centuries, companies have always been part of geopolitical relationships, but the point will be to show in what extent this role has become far more complex and effective nowadays. I want specially to stress how sometimes companies are key elements in resolving geopolitical conflicts in the context of the globalization of the last decades where companies have become more complex structures within geopolitical relationships According to Fons Trompenaars, companies must be part of the culture of countries to get benefits from that culture and to be able to playa role of mediator in case of conflict. Therefore, it will appear that companies are most of the time representants of the culture from the countries where they are doing businesses. The difficulty regarding this topic is to collect information about it. It is uncommon for geopolitical analyst to perceive companies as independent actors able to contribute to the resolution of geopolitical tensions. Therefore, I will have to analyse case studies and identify how in the past and the present have companies playa role of mediator, directly or indirectly, within conflicts. It is exactly what James G. March explained in year 1962 when stating that business firms are political organization that organize themselves to make and implement decisions in the public sphere that benefits them. Thus, companies seem to have historically been actors that have been building links with the political spheres.
